Power restored in Burlington

Police said a person ran into a power pole near Graham Hopedale Road and Hanover Road.

BURLINGTON, N.C. — UPDATE: Power has been restored in Burlington.

On Tuesday morning, thousands are without power in Burlington, which seems to mainly be impacting the area near North Church Street and West Main Street. 

There was a crash just around 1:30 a.m. where a driver ran into a power line. Since then, there has been outages in the area. 

Officers said the crash happened near Graham Hopedale Road and Hanover Road. That intersection is closed until further notice. 

The driver was not injured during the crash, but crews are racing to get the lights back on for residents.
