LIBERTY, North Carolina — A 17-year-old girl is dead after a car hit her Tuesday night in Liberty, according to state troopers.
Around 9:50 p.m., troopers responded to Oak Grove Church Road near Garrett Road in Alamance County where they said Daniela Trejo Mendiola was hit by a car.
Troopers said Joshua Thomas Brown, 38, was going northwest on Oak Grove Church Road and Mendiola was walking in the middle of the road. Brown was unable to avoid Mendiola and hit her with his car.
Mendiola died at the scene. Brown will not face any charges.
This investigation is ongoing.
