ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Spectrum announced Wednesday that it has launched internet, mobile, television and home phone services to more than 3,000 homes and small businesses in Rockingham County.
According to Spectrum, this marks the completion of their broadband expansion project in the area. The total cost of the project was $14.4 million, $10.4 million of which was invested directly by Spectrum.
Residents in areas where broadband access has been expanded to will have starting speeds of 500 Mbps with Spectrum Internet, according to the company.
“Broadband access and affordable service options are imperative for communities across North Carolina,” said U.S. Rep. Kathy Manning. “I’m glad to see Charter’s expansion which will deliver quality, high-speed service with affordable options for families in need.”
Spectrum is celebrating the expansion with a "Connecting Your Community" event on October 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Rockingham County Government Complex in Reidsville.
“Rural broadband expansion has been a top priority for the state Senate, and it's great to see a local project between Spectrum and leaders in Rockingham County get completed,” said state Sen. Phil Berger. “Spectrum has done fine work to help previously left behind residents and businesses get connected to high-speed internet, and this latest project is a big win for our rural community.”
