NASA captures celestial firework to celebrate 4th of July

The stars were celebrating U.S. independence alongside Americans.

The protostar shines red, white and blue for Independence Day.

UNITED STATES, — NASA released a new image captured by the James Webb Space Telescope of a young celestial object becoming a star to celebrate America's birthday.

The fiery hourglass shape is created by a protostar or a young star that gathers mass from its parent molecular cloud called L1527, which is about 460 light-years from Earth, according to FOX Weather. The celestial object is within the constellation Taurus.

NASA reported that the protostar, located at the center of the hourglass, is estimated to be about 100,000 years old. The protostar's shape forms from large clouds of gas and dust around the young star. 

The image was formed using Webb's Near-Infrared Camera (NIRCam) and Mid-Infrared Instrument (MIRI) to show the outflows moving in opposite directions, FOX Weather reported. According to NASA, this process creates the hourglass figure and allows the protostar to glow.

This isn't the first picture of the protostar, though. They released the first picture in 2022, as reported by FOX Weather.
