GREENSBORO, N.C. — Can you imagine walking through a rainforest in the middle of Greensboro? The Greensboro Science Center is making it a reality.
On May 15, the center unveiled plans for its new 35-acre biodome. We'll get to see what it will look like, the timeline for construction and opening, and what animals will live there - like the center's two-toed sloth named Indie.
The Greensboro Science Center announced its big plan for a biodome back in 2022, but this will be the first time seeing the design of what's to come.
The estimated date for opening is September 2026.
The biodome will go in the place where Discovery House once was. The center closed Discovery House on April 2 to prepare for construction, which is set to begin in September.
The animals in Discovery House aren't going anywhere. You can still see them in the lower level of the main building.
