CLEMSON, S.C. — Payton Page dominated not only on the field but also in the classroom during his time at Dudley High School. Now, he is a senior at Clemson University doing the same at one of the top programs in college football.
On Saturday, the 24th, the Tigers celebrated their seniors before their game with in-state foe The Citadel. It was the last home game ever played at Memorial Stadium for the elder statesmen in the Clemson program, including Page.
Big number 55 has been a part of some great moments with the Tigers, but Saturday, he took it to a whole new level. The senior defensive tackle got his big mitts on a pass late in the first quarter for his first career interception.
However, Page wasn't just satisfied with the interception; he wanted six points and would not be denied. The big man, picked up two crucial blocks from his teammates as they escorted him up the sideline as he made his 57-yard voyage to the end zone as gracefully as his 310-pound frame would allow for the touchdown.
Clemson would go on to win the game 51 to 14 capping a day that Page will remember forever.
