CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — North Carolina forward Luke Maye is wrapping up his final season in a Carolina uniform, but he's still got plenty of basketball left to play before he moves on from Chapel Hill.
Maye is averaging 14.5 points and 9.6 rebounds a game as he and the eighth-ranked Tar Heels prepare to travel to Durham for a showdown with rival No. 1 Duke Wednesday.
Before the big matchup, Maye sat down with WFMY News 2's Patrick Wright for one minute of rapid-fire questions. The two covered everything from Maye's favorite pastime, to his favorite Roy Williams quote.
Here's a full transcript of the interview:
PW: Your favorite thing to do when you're not playing basketball?
LM: Play ping pong.
PW: What's something someone wouldn't know about you?
LM: That I love going to the movie theater, but I'm a big animated movie guy.
PW: Animated? What's your favorite movie?
LM: Kung Fu Panda.
PW: Favorite player growing up?
LM: Dirk Nowitzki.
PW: You come from a family of athletes; who's the best athlete in your family?
LM: I am.
PW: You and your brother Cole (plays baseball at the University of Florida) both have national championships. Which one is more impressive?
LM: Mine is.
PW: Where do you spend most of your time on campus?
LM: Probably most of my time in the Business School because that's where I've spent my last two years being kind of isolated a little bit from campus, but I love being in "The Pit" and being right around the Union.
PW: Your favorite Roy Williams quote?
LM: It's a quote that we have, like a thought for the day, "it's best when somebody does something and nobody cares who gets the credit."
PW: Last question. Who's your favorite team to beat?
LM: Duke.
Maye and the Tar Heels take on Duke inside Cameron Indoor Stadium Wednesday at 9 p.m. You can catch all the action on WFMY News 2.
