Cam Newton Dismissive Body Language During Super Bowl Post Game

Cam Newton Dismissive During Super Bowl Post Game Press Conference

Cam Newton is the man of the hour. Not for winning the Super Bowl, but for walking out of the Super Bowl post game press conference. Cam's body language was all about dissing - disengaged, disinterested and dismissive when talking to the reporters. No one expects him to do a happy dance after the loss, but as the face of the Carolina Panthers you expect professionalism. Someone tweeted a video showing Cam walking away because he overheard a Broncos player nearby talking about Denver's strategy of shutting him down. Yes, this would sting to hear. Part of sports is taunting by other players.

Winning and losing are the two outcomes of any game. As a player, you got to be prepared for both. Yes, losing is hard, but the losing with dignity earns you respect. In my opinion, it would have been better for Cam to acknowledge that answering questions would be difficult at that time and he'd do his best. Then proceed to show engaging body language by looking at reporters, shoulders held back, chin up when answering questions.

I can imagine that Cam was feeling angry, disappointed and sad.  Who wouldn't be? Losing wasn't the ending of the Super Bowl game that he expected. By all means own your feelings, but it's the manner that you allow them to impact you that can send a different message then you intend.
