Panthers owner David Tepper 'regrets his behavior' during game; fined $300K, NFL says

After a blowout game against the Jaguars, Panthers owner David Tepper was caught throwing a drink at a Jaguars fan. Now, he has to pay a $300K fine.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — David Tepper's temper cost him a hefty fine from the NFL and he is now regretting his behavior following a Panthers game Sunday.

The NFL said due to his unacceptable conduct, he would be fined $300,000 after he was spotted throwing a drink at a Jacksonville Jaguars fan during the team's shutout loss.

Visibly upset after watching rookie quarterback Bryce Young throw a fourth-quarter interception, Tepper tossed the contents of his drink at a Jacksonville fan in the stands from a suite.

Carolina fell short in Sunday's game 26-0.

David Tepper released the following statement after the incident:

“I am deeply passionate about this team and regret my behavior on Sunday. I should have let NFL stadium security handle any issues that arose. I respect the NFL’s code of conduct and accept the League’s discipline for my behavior.”

The NFL released the following statement since the incident:

The National Football League today fined Carolina Panthers’ chairman David Tepper $300,000 for his unacceptable conduct in Jacksonville during Sunday’s game. All NFL personnel are expected to conduct themselves at all times in ways that respect our fans and favorably reflect on their team and the NFL.
