Panthers fire head coach Frank Reich

It was Frank Reich's first season with the Carolina Panthers as head coach.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Carolina Panthers have parted ways with first-year head coach Frank Reich.

The Panthers posted a statement from team owner David Tepper about Reich's firing.

"I met with Coach Reich this morning and informed him that he will not continue as head coach of the Carolina Panthers. I want to thank Frank for his dedication and service, and we wish him well. Effective immediately, Special Teams Coordinator Chris Tabor will serve as our interim head coach. Senior Assistant Jim Caldwell will be a special advisor to Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown, who will take over play-calling duties," Tepper said.

In addition to Reich's firing, the team also let go of assistant head coach/running backs coach Duce Staley and quarterbacks coach Josh McCown.

This comes after the Panther's 10th loss of the season on Sunday to the Tennessee Titans. Carolina's record now stands at 1-10.

Reich had resumed play-calling duties for the past two weeks after handing over the reins to offensive coordinator Thomas Brown for three weeks of the season. The Panthers' only win of the season happened when Reich wasn't at the helm.

The Panthers have not made the playoffs since owner David Tepper purchased the team in 2018.
