CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The father of Carolina Panthers tight end Hayden Hurst said his son has an alarming injury. Jerry Hurst posted on X, the site formerly as Twitter, that his son has Post-Traumatic Amnesia.

Jerry Hurst said a neurologist confirmed the injury. He said it stems from a hit that Hurst took against the Chicago Bears in November. The tight end hasn't played since.

The National Institutes of Health described the condition as having incomplete memory after getting injured. It can take months to clear up.

Hurst's father said recovery is going slow, and he doesn't know when his son will be able to play again.

Hurst signed with the Panthers last offseason. He had 18 catches and one touchdown before getting hurt.
