NFL football is back!
The season opened Thursday with a Kansas City win over Baltimore and continued Friday in Brazil with a Philadelphia win over Green Bay. Sunday will see 26 of the league's teams in action for the first time in 2024.
Here's a look at every game that will be televised by CBS in Week 1:
Arizona at Buffalo (-6.5), 1 p.m.
After falling in the AFC playoffs last season, the Buffalo Bills will kick off the 2024 season by hosting the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.
The Bills are led by quarterback Josh Allen, who will have several new targets to throw to this season, including Curtis Samuel and rookie Keon Coleman. Buffalo's No. 1 option on the outside is now Khalil Shakir, who had 45 catches for 611 yards and two touchdowns in 2023.
The Cardinals also have some new offensive weapons, namely Marvin Harrison Jr., whom the team took No. 4 overall in this year's NFL Draft. Harrison Jr. is the son of Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison and won the Biletnikoff Award in 2023 as the nation's top receiver after catching 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns with Ohio State last season.
Houston (-2.5) at Indianapolis, 1 p.m.
After claiming Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2023, Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud suits up for the first time in 2024 on Sunday as Houston travels to face its AFC South rival Indianapolis.
Stroud threw for the third-most yards by a rookie QB in NFL history last season (4,108) and led Houston to a win over the Browns in the Wild Card round of the AFC Playoffs. He became the youngest quarterback ever to win a playoff game at 22 years and 102 days old, breaking the record previously held by Michael Vick.
The Colts are optimistic heading into the year thanks to the return of quarterback Anthony Richardson, who missed most of his rookie year in 2023 with a shoulder injury. Richardson played Houston last season and ran for two touchdowns before leaving the game with a concussion.
The Texans and Colts split last season's two meetings. Indianapolis has won 33 of the 45 games between the two teams all time.
Jacksonville at Miami (-3.5), 1 p.m.
The battle for Florida sees Jacksonville travel to take on Miami on Sunday afternoon. This is the first time the two teams have played since the Jaguars defeated the Dolphins, 23-20, back in 2021.
The Dolphins feature a high-flying offensive attack led by receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, who combined for 191 catches, 2,813 yards and 17 touchdowns lasts season. Throwing them the ball will be Tua Tagovailoa, who led all NFL players with 4,624 passing yards in 2023.
The Jaguars hope the 2024 season plays out better than last year did. Jacksonville started the 2023 season 8-3 overall before losing five of its final six games to close the year. Leading the charge for Jacksonville this upcoming season will be quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who signed a five-year, $275 million extension this offseason to stay with the team through 2030.
Lawrence has several new pass-catchers to work with in 2024. The biggest new addition is Brian Thomas Jr., whom the Jaguars drafted in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. Thomas Jr. led all college football players in 2023 with 17 touchdowns as a junior year at LSU.
New England at Cincinnati (-7.5), 1 p.m.
Two teams at opposite ends of the food chain meet in Cincinnati as the Patriots travel to face the Bengals.
The offseason has been a stressful one for Cincinnati, which has had several players hold out because of contract disputes. The Bengals signed Tee Higgins to an extension, but he has been limited in practice with a hamstring injury. Ja'Marr Chase, meanwhile, hasn't practiced with the team lately as he tries to lock up his own extension.
Chase told reporters he will be a "game-time decision" for Sunday's game against New England. Even if he doesn't play, Cincinnati should have a fairly easy time with the Patriots, who are in their first year under head coach Jerod Mayo.
The Patriots drafted UNC quarterback Drake Maye No. 3 overall in this year's draft, but the team's starter Sunday will be veteran Jacoby Brissett. He will try to lead an offense that ranked 30th in the league in yards per game (276.2) in 2023.
Denver at Seattle (-5.5), 4:05 p.m.
A rematch of Super Bowl 48, the Denver Broncos travel to Seattle on Sunday afternoon to take on the Seahawks.
Seattle is in its first year under new head coach Mike McDonald, who spent last year as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. The Broncos, meanwhile, are in their second year under head coach Sean Payton.
Expected to start for Denver at quarterback is rookie Bo Nix, who was taken in the first round of this year's draft after closing out his college career at Oregon. Nix was the 2023 Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year after throwing for 4,508 yards and 45 touchdowns against just three interceptions.
Geno Smith will start under center for Seattle, and he has plenty of familiar targets around him in DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. The Seahawks also feature one of the most talented backs in the league in Kenneth Walker.
Defensively is where the Seahawks will look the most different. Watch for defensive tackle Byron Murphy II to have a big impact in his first game. The 6-foot, 305-pound lineman was a second-team All-America selection in 2023 while at Texas.
Las Vegas at Los Angeles Chargers (-3), 4:05 p.m.
Jim Harbaugh is back in the NFL, and his first game as the new head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers sees his squad host the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
Harbaugh, who coached Michigan to a national championship in 2023, last coached professionally with the 49ers in 2014. He is expected to carry over the smashmouth mentality that helped the Wolverines dominate to his new team.
The Chargers are led on the field by quarterback Justin Herbert, who is looking for a bounce-back campaign in 2024 after missing a large chunk of last year with injury. Herbert has a whole new cast of pass-catchers to target this season, including draft pick Ladd McConkey and veteran D.J. Chark to go with Josh Palmer and Quentin Johnson.
The Raiders, meanwhile, are expected to start Gardner Minshew under center. Minshew played the 2023 season with the Colts and threw for 3,305 yards and 15 touchdowns against nine interceptions.
Oakland is in its first full season under head coach Antonio Pierce, a former linebacker who took over after the team fired Josh McDaniels midway through the year. Pierce will be tasked with turning around the Raiders' defense — which ranked 15th in yards allowed per game (330.7) in 2023.
