NC A&T leaving MEAC to join Big South

The Aggies will join Big South members like Campbell, Gardner-Webb, and High Point University.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Aggies are ready to ball in the Big South!

North Carolina A&T State University announced Friday that its athletic programs will be leaving the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference to join the Big South next year.

The conference switch will officially take place on July 1, 2021. The Aggies will continue to compete in the MEAC through the 2020-21 academic year.

"This move makes great sense for our student-athletes, for our fans, and for our bottom line," said NC A&T Chancellor Harold L. Martin Sr.

The NC A&T Board of Trustees voted to switch conferences, acting on the study and recommendation from its Athletic Conference Assessment Committee.

The Aggies will become the 12th member of the Big South, joining schools like Campbell, Gardner-Webb, UNC Asheville, and High Point University.
