WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Wake Forest University's head men's basketball coach, Danny Manning and the school's Director of Athletics, Ron Wellman announced two players in violation of the athletics department policy.
Cornelius Hudson, a sophomore forward from Dallas, Texas has been dismissed from the team. He averaged, 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds this season. He scored a career high 22 points, in the Deacons' last game against Pitt on Feb. 16.
Manning also announced Devin Thomas has been suspended for two games. Thomas, a senior forward from Harrisburg, PA leads the Deacons in scoring (15.8 ppg) and rebounding (10.2 rpg) this season. He's also one of two players in the ACC averaging a double-double in both conference and overall games. He's also the active ACC leader in career rebounds (1,029) and double-doubles (33).
Manning said, "Cornelius and Devin have had lapses of judgement and hopefully they will learn from this." He also said, "We will continue to support them with their academic responsibilities at Wake Forest."
The Demon Deacons will take on Boston College on Sunday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m.
