CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Brandon Miller made a layup off a rebound as time expired to give the Charlotte Hornets a 108-107 win over the Detroit Pistons.
Miller's score came moments after Grant Williams attempted and missed a 3-pointer for the win. Detroit (3-6) led with six seconds left after Ronald Holland forced a LaMelo Ball turnover and scored the go-ahead shot moments later.
No team led by more than nine points in the dead heat contest. Charlotte (3-5) led 46-45 at halftime and each team scored 31 points in the third quarter.
Ball stepped it up in the fourth quarter with a 15-point effort, accounting for nearly half of the Hornets' 31 fourth-quarter points.
Miles Bridges led the Hornets with 27 points on 6 of 16 shooting from the field. Ball had 25 points. Miller scored 19 points.
The Pistons were led by Jaden Ivey with 21 points. Cade Cunningham had 20 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds in a triple-double effort.
The Hornets made all 16 free throw attempts in the win. Detroit went just 5 of 9 from the free-throw line.
Charlotte faces the Indiana Pacers on Friday.
