GREENSBORO, N.C. — Some Duke and NC State fans were glued to the tv for the elite eight game.
Duke lost to NC State who is moving on to the final four.
WFMY News 2's spoke to fans on both sides who said it was a game well played.
"The truth is you just never know what's going to happen," Jen Matthew said.
She is the wife of the owner of House Divided Bottle and Taps. She told us she is the Duke side of establishment, it represents both Duke and UNC.
For one NC State fan, it's all about the phenomenon of the win.
"They are kind of a Cinderella story," Colin Tripp said.
He watched the game at Lee's Brass Taps Bar and Grill.
Tripp said he will continue cheering for the Wolfpack as the brackets close in.
"It's been 40 years since they won the ACC," he recalled.
For Duke fans, Matthew said diplomacy is key. She acknowledges that Duke isn't new to March Madness territory.
She said this year NC State has an interesting story.
"I think it makes a great story for state," Matthew recalled, "They didn't have an overall great season but they were able to pull it together and win the ACC tournament."
Although her team was upset by the Wolfpack, Matthew said she will always stay true to the Blue Devils.
"I'm happy for them and I'm happy for their fans but obviously I'm royal blue all the way," she said.
As for NC State fans like Tripp, he wants to see NC State keeping up its momentum.
NC State beat Duke 76-64.
