WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — To say the 2023 season was disappointing for the Wake Forest Demon Deacons football team, would be an understatement. The Demon Deacon's (4-8) record is the lowest win percentage (.333) the program has seen since 2015, when the Deacs went (3-9).

Wake knew replacing one of the most productive quarterbacks the Atlantic Coast Conference has ever seen would be tough. However, due to injuries and a lack of production, Wake Forest started three different quarterbacks (Mitch Griffis, Michael Kern, and Santino Marruci).

All three showed flashes of being capable of leading Wake to wins, and all three had their struggles as well.

Tuesday, it was announced that two of those young men would be entering their names into the transfer portal, with hopes of getting an opportunity to start elsewhere.

Mitch Griffis, who entered the 2023 season as the starter as well as Santino Marucci, who led Wake to a dramatic 4th quarter comeback against UVA both plan on finding greener pastures to continue their college careers.

If Griffis and Marucci find new landing spots, they both will have two years of eligibility left to continue chasing their dreams.
