GREENSBORO, N.C. — Two Aggies played together at a community college in Kansas. Camian Shell came to North Carolina A&T first. He learned the culture and what Head Coach Monte Ross wanted to do with the program. Coach trusted his opinion when he said he wanted his former teammate, Landon Galsper to transfer into the program.
"I was pushing Coach to take Landon once I found out some situations on the team because I already had chemistry with him, so I really knew what we could do as a backcourt together," said Shell.
"It was one of the easiest recruiting jobs that I’ve ever done," said Coach Ross. "Cam called and told me about him, gave me his number, I called him, talked to him he was like 'Okay, Coach, tet me talk to my people, talk to my parents, and everything'. A half an hour later, he calls me and says 'Coach, ok I’m coming and I’m like 'You sure?'."
Sophomore guard Landon Glasper didn't even step foot on campus before making the decision to play for A&T, that's how sure he was about this program.
"I just feel like it was a great fit for me, so I decided to commit before even seeing the campus," said Glasper.
Glasper grew up in Arkansas, the only person he knew in the Triad was Camian Shell.
"To know that he was gonna be down here, it took a lot of pressure off of me, a lot of anxiety off of me," said Glasper.
It doesn't seem like he has anxiety on the court. He's averaging about 20 points per game and led the Aggies with 35 against Northeastern Thursday night.
"When you have the ability to score at different levels, the way that he can and you know he can shoot the ball," said Coach Ross."He can get into the lane, he can finish. He has an unbelievable mid-range game, so he put the defense on their heels because he’s very capable of taking what they give him and it’s hard to just take everything away from him, so from that standpoint he has a lot of, I like to say, he has a lot of tools."
The Aggies are 5-13 on the season. Glasper's 4th in the CAA in scoring. Shell is 2nd in assists.
"We just stayed together stick to the course," said Shell. "I think we can do a lot of good things in this league."
I definitely feel like we can go a long way and be a great team in the future," said Glasper.
