Grimsley football player Bryce Davis commits to play at Clemson

The Edge decided Saturday.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — UPDATE: Bryce Davis commits to play at Clemson.

Grimsley senior Bryce Davis has risen to be a top 15 edge in the country, a position he never thought he would play entering high school.

"I came to Grimsley a little bit small and Coach Brown, Coach Riggs saw potential in me at edge and put me there," said Davis.

After playing on the offensive line his whole life, he was a little skeptical about the change.

"I went to Coach Brown the first day after freshman workouts and said I want to play wide receiver I don't want to do any of this pass rush," Davis joked. "He texted me back and said 'I think you'll make the most out of football playing edge.' I had to trust them throughout this process."

That trust paid off. Entering his senior year, Davis received 30 offers from schools around the country. The edge has narrowed down his top four to:

  • Georgia: "The best of the best is at Georgia. They compete for a championship every year," said Davis.
  • South Carolina: "At South Carolina, the environment and culture there is different. The fans go buck wild there like I've never seen."
  • Clemson: "The way Coach Sweeney operates his program, he's really genuine about it and won't change his ways for nobody."
  • Duke: "It's a new opportunity for college football. They're pouring into their football program like no other."

Davis is expected to make his decision on where he will play on Saturday.
