GREENSBORO, N.C. – Two of the brightest stars in recent Wake Forest University golf history who both received the Arnold Palmer Scholarship, Cameron Young and Will Zalatoris, will play next week’s Wyndham Championship, the tournament announced today. The 85th annual Wyndham Championship is set for Aug. 8-11, 2024, at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

These players join FedExCup No. 9 Sungjae Im, FedExCup No.13 Russell Henley, FedEx Cup No. 15 Akshay Bhatia, defending champion Lucas Glover along with past champions FedExCup No. 34 J.T. Poston, FedExCup No. 36 Si Woo Kim, Kevin Kisner, Webb Simpson and Brandt Snedeker.

Young is 35th in the current FedExCup point standings and 24th in the Official World Golf Rankings. He has six top-10 finishes this season and seven runner-up finishes in his brief PGA TOUR career, but he is still in search of his first PGA TOUR win. His best finishes this season are second at the Valspar Championship, tied for fourth at the Cognizant Classic in The Palm Beaches, tied for sixth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and tied for ninth at the Travelers Championship and the Masters Tournament. He joined the PGA TOUR in 2022 and represented the United States in the Presidents Cup that season. He will make his first Wyndham Championship start next week.

Zalatoris is 45th in FedExCup points and 58th in the Official World Golf Rankings. His best finishes this season are tied for second at The Genesis Invitational, tied for fourth at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard and tied for ninth at the Masters Tournament. He won the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship to start the FedExCup Playoffs but withdrew from the second playoff event with back pain. His injury required back surgery in 2023, and he returned to competition at the Hero World Challenge late last season. He will make his fourth Wyndham Championship appearance after playing on a sponsor’s exemption in his first two starts; he finished tied for 21st in 2022 for his best Sedgefield showing.

In 2017, he was First Team All-American, the ACC Player of the year and a member of the United States Walker Cup team. During his junior golf days, he played the AJGA Wyndham Invitational presented by Odyssey at Sedgefield Country Club three times finishing tied for 56th in 2010, tied for ninth in 2011 and tied for 53rd in 2012.
