HIGH POINT, N.C. — The head coach for the High Point University Panthers Women's Lacrosse team addressed her cancer diagnosis this week. Lyndsey Boswell thanked the community for their support, and says she will keep coaching through the spring.
According to a Gofundme page for Boswell's family, she learned of her diagnosis last month.
Boswell is HPU Women's Lacrosse first coach, starting with the team's inaugural 2010-2011 season. In her statement addressing the diagnosis she says her priorities remain with my family and my team.
"My staff is fully prepared, and our players are excited for a championship season. We will take all the support you can give," Boswell said.
HPU Vice President and Athletics Director Dan Hauser also addressed Boswell's diagnosis. He said Boswell and the women's lacrosse student-athletes have the school's full support.
"We look forward to helping Lyndsey win this health fight and chase down her 13th conference championship," Hauser said.
HPU Women's Lacrosse team begins its season Sunday versus Duke Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
