CHICAGO — Round 4 of the battle between Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese for the WNBA's Rookie of the Year Award takes place Friday night as the Indiana Fever travel to take on the Chicago Sky. Both players are also trying to keep their teams in the playoff picture.
The Fever (15-16) have won four of their last five games, including an 84-80 win over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday. In that victory, Clark chipped in 19 points, five rebounds and five assists while passing Rhyne Howard for the most 3-pointers in a single season by a rookie (88 and counting).
The Sky (11-19), meanwhile, have lost four games in a row by a total of just 10 points. Reese is averaging 13.3 points per game and leads all WNBA players with an average of 12.9 rebounds per game. Despite those strong numbers, Reese is shooting 38.4% from the field this season compared to Clark's 41.4%.
Indiana has won two of its three matchups with Chicago this season, but the Sky won the most recent meeting — an 88-87 victory on June 23. In that game, Reese scored a career-high 25 points to go with 16 rebounds.
The Fever and Sky currently own the final two playoff spots in the league as the No. 7 and No. 8 seeds, respectively. That said, the Sky only have a one-game lead over ninth-place Atlanta (10-20).
