High Point parted ways with head men's basketball coach Scott Cherry Wednesday.
"I would like to thank Scott Cherry for his leadership and commitment to our men's basketball program and the High Point community over the last nine years," athletic director Dan Hauser said in a release from the school.
Cherry has coached High Point since 2009, earning a 146-34 record and a 93-65 mark in the Big South.
The HPU website says Cherry and Hauser 'mutually agreed' to a coaching change.
"I want to thank Dr. Qubein, Dan Hauser and the High Point community for the opportunity to be the head coach the men's basketball program," Cherry said. "I received tremendous support that helped us achieve great things on the court and in the classroom. I want to thank my current players and all my former players for their hard work and dedication. I wish all the best in the future for the program and University."
The Panthers finished under .500 the last two seasons. They reached the NIT twice and CIT twice under Cherry in nine seasons.
HPU's website says a search for a new coach will start immediately.
