3 Former Triad Stars Earn NFL Pro Bowl Selections

Keenan Allen, Eric Ebron and Tarik Cohen all received invites to the NFL's annual All-Star game. Two Carolina Panthers also earned nods.

NEW YORK — Three professional football players with ties to Greensboro have received one of the NFL's biggest honors. 

Keenan Allen, Eric Ebron and Tarik Cohen have each been selected for the 2019 NFL Pro Bowl in Orlando. The NFL's annual All-Star game features some of the top athletes in the league.

Allen, a Northern Guilford High School alum and Los Angeles Chargers receiver, earned his second Pro Bowl selection. He has tallied 1,074 yards and 6 receiving touchdowns this season. Allen will represent the AFC.

Ebron, a graduate of Ben L. Smith High School and a former UNC star, received his first career Pro Bowl selection Tuesday. The Indianapolis Colts tight end has 662 receiving yards and 12 receiving touchdowns this year. Ebron will also play for the AFC team.

Cohen, the former A&T running back, who still leads the MEAC in career rushing yards, also received his first Pro Bowl selection. Cohen will serve as a return specialist for the NFC. He currently leads the NFL with 413 punt return yards for the Chicago Bears. 

The 2019 Pro Bowl is set for Jan. 27 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Super Bowl LIII will be played the following Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Players who make the Super Bowl will not play in the Pro Bowl.
