GREENSBORO, N.C. — It’s time for ‘My 2 Cents.’ The first of 2021. WE MADE IT YALL!
I know today is all about new beginnings and fresh starts – and more than usual – moving on from the past year. BUT WAIT – before you leave 2020 in the dust, let’s reflect on all of the good we saw.
Parades for frontline workers. Teachers going above and beyond for their students. People dropping everything to make masks and hand sanitizer when it was scarce. Communities coming together to feed and take care of their neighbors.
Your light was bright in the darkness.
You can tell a lot about a person’s character by how they respond to a crisis – and overall, the Triad responded with generosity, selflessness and heart.
You responded with a willingness to donate a life saving organ without hesitation. With goodwill in filling a need when more people than ever were down on their luck. With kindness in overtripping restaurant staff when they needed it most. And with creativity in coming up with new ways to celebrate holidays.
There are many things that I want to leave behind in 2020 but there’s also a lot I hope we take with us.
