GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's time for 'My 2 Cents.'
Since Christmas is just 10 days away y'all know I've been listening to carols and holiday songs non stop. One of my favorites is "Oh, Holy Night," and my favorite lyric is "the thrill of hope, a weary world rejoices."
But this week I was really thinking about that line, the thrill of hope, and how it seems more relevant now than ever before.
In the last few days I've had more hope than I have in a while. The last few months have been difficult, squinting to see the light at the end of the tunnel of the pandemic. For me, seeing images and video of COVID-19 vaccines being shipped out, and people being vaccinated are giving me, and many others, hope.
Christmas is also bringing some hope. Even though it will look different, the thought of spending time will some of the people I love most gives me hope to get through hard days.
It's pretty amazing that just having something to look forward to can do so much. That hope can bring new perspective and make something seemingly bleak, thrilling.
