GREENSBORO, N.C. — It’s time for ‘My 2 Cents.’
If you had $86,400 and someone stole $10, would you throw away the other $86,390 just because $10 was missing?
I bet your answer was no, right? That would be pretty silly to waste almost the whole sum because a tiny bit was gone.
We have 86,400 seconds in a day so why do we let one bad thing ruin the rest?
A mean comment online. A rude encounter. A bad meeting. A not so stellar conversation. A brief moment can truly mess up an entire 24 hours - but only if we allow it to.
If we go back to our earlier example with the money - yes, it stinks that someone took something from you. In that moment it may be all you can think about. You didn’t do anything wrong and still, you lost something. But when you stop and reflect and remember that what you have is more valuable than what you lost, it puts it all into perspective.
It’s the same with your day. It stinks when someone says or does something rude. It may make you angry, or sad, or frustrated. And it’s easy to let those feelings stick with you. But what if we stop and reflect and remember what we have. All of our blessings in life. Instead of letting a moment rob us - we should remember that what we still have is more valuable.
