2021 isn't the solution to all of our problems - My 2 Cents

Sure, 2020 has been the worst but just because the clock strikes midnight on January 1st doesn't mean everything will get better.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — It's time for 'My 2 Cents.'

I often find myself living by "prepare for the worst, hope for the best." It's a good way to be ready for anything that may come your way while also staying optimistic.

I think we all need to adopt that way of thinking when it comes to 2021.

I know, 2020 has been a doozy. We've had to deal with the worst of the worst on so many fronts - and I hope there will never be another year like it. But because it's been so bad, many people are counting down the days until January 1st, 2021. Believing that the new year will bring, well, new things.

But guys... let's remember that we could still be dealing with a lot of this even in 2021.

I hate to be that person - the negative Nancy, who is raining on your parade, but let's be real, the clock striking midnight is not going to magically rid the world of COVID, or political division or tension in our society.

That's not to say we shouldn't be hopeful that a lot will improve in 2021, I think it will - there are bright things on the horizon, but we need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that all of that change will take some time. It won't be instant and it won't be simply because of the change of a digit.

So prepare for the worst but hope for the best.
