A Florida angler got more than he bargained for when he hooked a 17-foot endangered sawfish recently.
In the video uploaded to YouTube, Joshua Jorgensen is seen hooking the 700-pound monster, which then drags the boat.
Jorgensen is able to get to shore, where he is able to get the fish into the shallows and take a look at it before letting it go.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission tells anglers that if you hook a sawfish, be sure to keep it in the water at all times, cut the line as close to the hook as safely possible, and report the encounter to 1-941-255-7403 or sawfish@MyFWC.com.
