Hearse overturns after car runs flashing lights and hits hit in Cincinnati, OH

CINCINNATI-- A grieving family was devastated on the day of their mother's funeral. That's because the hearse carrying 79-year-old Nancy White overturned during the funeral procession, after it was hit by another vehicle.

ABC Affiliate WCPO, reports that the driver of the hearse and a Catholic Priest were injured when the vehicle overturned. White's body was being taken to Arlington Memorial Gardens for burial beside her late husband. Her son, Kenneth White, told the station that the horror of what happened will remain fresh in the White family members' minds.

Witnesses said a car crashed into the hearse while police were directing traffic at an intersection. There were 40 cars, carrying about 75 family members and friends in the procession. A police officer said they were able to get another hearse to the scene to pick up Nancy White's body.

Kenneth White said the family was prepared to bury his mother Wednesday but will have to go through this again on Friday. White said the family now has a headache on top of heartache.

The priest and driver of the hearse were taken to the hospital but are expected to be okay.

Thursday, police still hadn't filed any charges in the accident.
