Warmest Christmas in Triad History

Record Warmth for the Triad this Christmas
2015 tops the list.

GREENSBORO, NC -- It's official. We've never seen a Christmas warm-up quite like this. Today will go down as the warmest Christmas Day in Triad history.

Today's record high of 74° ties with 1955 for the warmest Christmas Day. Records have been kept for more than 100 years. Another record high was set yesterday on Christmas Eve when we reached 72 degrees.

This warm-spell isn't over just yet. More warmth is on the way heading into Saturday and Sunday when temperatures will again reach the low 70s, threatening record highs on both days.

This unusually warm weather is gripping the entire East Coast of the United States, with record highs being smashed as far north as New England.

While the East Coast is unusually warm, the West Coast has been stormy and cool; a weather pattern typical of El Nino winters.
