Victims of the Interstate 40 bridge collapse in Oklahoma last year have settled lawsuits with the owner of the towboat that pushed barges into the span's pier. Mississippi-based Magnolia Marine Transport Company has agreed to pay an undisclosed amount to families of 14 people who died and those who survived when vehicles plunged into the Arkansas River last May. That leaves only the state of Oklahoma and MBO Video with active suits. MBO's fiber optic cables were cut when the bridge collapsed. Oklahoma sued Magnolia, parent company Ergon and towboat pilot William Joe Dedmon for 56 million dollars for replacing the bridge and damage to state highways used as detours. A cardiologist says he agrees with reports that Dedmon blacked out from a heart condition just before the crash.
