Two Deaths Reported At NY Amusement Park

One woman was thrown from a spinning ride, and a park employee was hit by a roller coaster.

Farmingdale, NY -- State officials say a New York amusement park where two people died this week has had a good safety record. A woman on a field trip from a group home was killed yesterday when she was thrown from a ride at Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale, on Long Island. The ride has cars that spin high in the air in the shape of a pinwheel. Riders are supposed to be secured with harnesses and investigators aren't sure yet if the woman was belted in at the time of the accident. State and federal investigators are studying pieces of the ride. A park employee was killed Wednesday when he was struck by a roller coaster. New York's Department of Labor says these are the first deaths recorded at the park.
