Two Dead After I-77 Fiery Crash Involving Three Tractor-Trailer Trucks

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 12:10 p.m. on I-77 North in Yadkin County.

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. — Two people have died following a crash on I-77 in Yadkin County involving three tractor-trailer trucks and a pickup truck.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the crash happened around 12:10 p.m. on I-77 North. All northbound lanes reopened after 11 p.m.

Traffic in the area had slowed due to construction several miles ahead. That’s when one tractor-trailer truck failed to reduce speed and hit the pickup truck that crashed into a box truck. The box truck then hit a tractor-trailer truck loaded with wood. Both the tractor-trailer truck loaded with wood and the box truck caught on fire.

Troopers said two people in the pickup truck died as a result of the crash. They have not released the names of the victims at this time.

Charges are pending at this time.
