LEXINGTON, N.C. — Two men were arrested after the Davidson County Sheriff's Office says they were part of an assault, involving a car, that left a person with critical injuries.
Deputies were called to assist the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) with an assault investigation on Mt. Zion Church Road in Thomasville Friday around 2 a.m.
Investigators say they found a person who had been dragged down the road by a 4-door sedan. Three men were in the car when it happened, officers said. The person then was run over by the car.
The person who was dragged and run over is at a local hospital in critical condition, with major head trauma, Davidson County sheriff says.
Detectives are withholding the person's identity at this time.
Investigators identified the driver and front seat passenger of the sedan as Creedence Smith, 30, of Thomasville, and David Brewer, 39, of High Point.
Smith was taken into custody Tuesday morning at his home for Felony Hit and Run Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury and/or Death; Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury; Possession with Intent Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine; Conspire to Sell Methamphetamine; and Common Law Robbery. Smith received a $500,000 secured bond.
Brewer was arrested at his home Monday and charged with Possession of Firearm by Felon; Conspire to Sell Methamphetamine; Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Methamphetamine; and Common Law Robbery. Brewer received a $250,000 secured bond.
