Cleveland, OH -- A Cleveland news anchor has appeared on air naked in a first-person report about an artist's photographs. The station, WOIO, says the report drew a record number of viewers for the time slot. Sharon Reed was one of hundreds of people who participated in Spencer Tunick's nude photo installation. Her report shows far-away angles of her naked as well as some closer semi-nude shots. It aired Monday in her station's 11:00 pm newscast. The station aired advisories before the piece. A Federal Communications Commission spokeswoman says the station followed rules that prohibit indecent material from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. The station says the idea was to cover the well-known artist in a different way. The news director says he also wanted to raise ratings during the period when audiences are measured to set advertising rates.
