DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. -- A 16-year-old girl has died after a car crash in Lexington.
The Highway Patrol said Hailey Mae Wallace died from injuries related to the crash. Investigators said Wallace was speeding on Holloway Church Road when her car ran off the road, hit a ditch before colliding with a tree. She was thrown from the vehicle as it overturned. Trooper Ned Moultrie said Wallace was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
He also said accidents like these where drivers are not wearing their seatbelts and are possibly distracted or fatigued are happening more in the area.
Hailey was a rising junior at West Davidson High School.
