Nashville, Tennessee -- Elvis has no choice but to leave this building. The studio where Elvis Presley recorded "Heartbreak Hotel" is being torn down. The studio at 1525 McGavock Street, near Nashville's Music Row, was purchased in 1999 by an auto-dealership that now needs the space for more customer parking space. And some say that's just heartbreaking. Gordon Stoker of the Jordanaires, Presley's primary background vocalists, told the daily newspaper The Tennessean "you can't hang on to everything your whole life." The studio, used by RCA in the mid-1950s, isn't the city's oldest or most famous, but it played a part in the recording of many artists including Jim Reeves, Chet Atkins and the Everly Brothers.
