SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Who do you think gets the honor of cleaning the Panthers' uniforms week after week? It's an 82-year-old dry cleaner in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
It's a dirty job that Bill Fowler is more ready for. He said the Panthers want the jerseys perfect. No wrinkles. No Creases.
The uniforms are quickly sorted. Pants go in one washer and jerseys go in another. The uniforms will be ready to go no later than Wednesday.
Fowler's held the job since 1995 before the first season. Also in the building is a jersey from the Panthers' first season. It's not a souvenir but a standard of how clean the new jersey's should look.
Fowler says on more than one occasion Cam's number has disappeared. When he calls the team to tell them they ususally say don't worry about it. Cam gave his jersey away.
