NORTH CAROLINA, USA — Sports betting is now legal in the State of North Carolina.
WFMY News 2 spoke to two sports wagering companies excited to operate in the Tar Heel state.
"Betting is meant to be a form of entertainment," FanDuel representative Lindsay Vellines said, "We encourage users to play within a budget and always wager within their financial means."

Sports betting becomes legal in North Carolina on Monday, March 11. Sports betting apps go live in the state at noon Eastern Time.

If you see the - symbol next to a team's name, that means they are the favorite to win. If you see the + symbol next to a team's name, that means they are the underdog. So, if you saw Duke vs. UNC (UNC -3), that means UNC is favored to win by three points.
7. What is a spread in sports betting?
It is the number placed by the sportsbook that a certain team has to win the game. For example, if the sportsbook has the UNC Tar Heels winning by three points, the spread is three. If they win by four, you win your bet. If they win by two, you lose your bet.
8. What is a cover in sports betting?
Cover is when a team covers the spread. So, if the Carolina Panthers are favored to win by five points, but they win by six, that means you covered the spread.
9. What is a moneyline in sports betting?
A moneyline bet means you simply pick the winner. It only includes the odds to win.
