Gov. Cooper in Asheville to speak on response efforts in Western NC following Helene

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Governor Roy Cooper will speak in Asheville on Monday following Helene's impact in Western NC. 

He will be joined by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and state officials to discuss the assessment for storm damage and the ongoing response efforts in Western NC. 

FEMA Administrator Deanna Criswell will survey damage and will be in North Carolina until the situation has stabilized, as directed by President Biden.

As of Monday, there are 10 federal search and rescue teams on the ground right now and another nine teams are on the way, for a total of more than 900 personal actively supporting rescue efforts in affected areas.
