5-year-old girl missing from Chapel Hill found safe, police say

Police said the 5-year-old girl has since been found safe!

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Update: The Chapel Hill Police Department said the 5-year-old has been located and is safe. 

The Chapel Hill Police were searching for a missing child who they said was inside an SUV when it was stolen from a shopping center Monday. 

Police said she was last seen on the 1800 block of E. Franklin St. Suite #21 in Chapel Hill, NC. The vehicle is a Blue 2003 Dodge Durango with NC license tag number TDS-4340.

The victim is believed to be with a person whose identity is unknown, according to police. 

A person whose identity is unknown is described as a white man wearing a white shirt and white ball cap with tattoos on his arms.
