ATLANTA — Among the figures to testify on Friday at the second day of a hearing for motions to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from the Georgia Trump case was her own father.
Willis' dad John C. Floyd III took the stand and wrapped up his testimony around noon.
Floyd was on the stand taking questions about his knowledge of Willis' relationship. One of the central questions of the disqualification hearing is whether her relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade began before or after he was appointed to that position for the Trump case.
Floyd testified that Wade never visited a home she owned in South Fulton. Floyd was living at the home at the time, and said he was aware Willis was dating someone between 2019 and 2020 -- but it was not Wade.
Floyd moved to the home in the spring or summer of 2019, and he moved out in December 2022. Willis moved out in early 2021 due to the death threats. Ashleigh Merchant, attorney for Trump codefendant Mike Roman, alleges Wade and Willis regularly stayed together at the home until Floyd moved in.
Floyd testified that his daughter did not tell him about her relationship with Wade in 2022.
Floyd said he may have had a brief conversation with Wade during Willis' swearing in as DA, but he said he first met Wade in 2023.
Wade was appointed special prosecutor in November 2021.
