GREENSBORO, N.C. — Greensboro heroes who stopped a school shooting before it happened, were honored Sunday at St Andrews United Methodist Church.

Just over a month ago at Smith High School, School Resource Officer D-K Evans, Assistant Principal Lashonti Hines, and Staff Member Patrick Jordan managed to stop Steve Spence from opening fire in the school.

Captain Renae Sigmon of the Greensboro Police thanked the heroes for their quick thinking in a crucial time Sunday.

Police say Spence was armed with two guns and had a backpack of bullets on December 3rd.

Police also say they found a third gun in a stolen car that Spence was driving.
