FOLLY BEACH, S.C. — A judge awarded to the victims of a car crash that killed a bride on her wedding night and injured the groom and two others, according to CBS affiliate WBTV.
Five businesses now have to pay more than $1 million combined.
You might remember Charlotte native Samantha Miller's death in April 2023 at Folly Beach.
Miller had just gotten married when police said a drunk driver slammed into a golf car with the bride, groom, and two others on board, who were taking the newlyweds back to their rental home.
Police said the woman's family sued several bars for overserving the suspect, 25-year-old Jamie Lee Komoroski, saying they should have cut her off.
Komoroski's insurance policy and rental car service were also named.
A judge signed off on a settlement between the businesses and the family's estate on Tuesday, June 18.
Detectives said Komoroski was driving 65 mph at the time of the crash.
A settlement of $1.355 million was reached before attorney fees. A total of $863,331.50 will be paid to Samantha Miller’s Estate.
