ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. — Two deputies with the Robeson County Sheriff's Office are being treated for multiple gunshot wounds, Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins confirms.
According to the sheriff's office, the deputies were shot in the area of Old Red Springs Road in Maxton, NC.
A suspect was also shot in that area and is currently being treated, the sheriff said.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) has been requested for the investigation. According to the sheriff's office more agencies from "the country and state" were also requested but did not list the ones responding.
