Kamala Harris' trip to Raleigh postponed as Debby closes in on North Carolina

It will be her first visit to our state since President Joe Biden dropped out of the race.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Vice President Kamala Harris will no longer visit North Carolina on Thursday as North Carolina braces for the impacts of Tropical Storm Debby, according to a campaign official.

The campaign did not say when or if she could reschedule her stop. She had planned on making an appearance with her running mate, who has not been named yet.

The president endorsed Harris as the Democrats' presidential candidate.

The Monday before Harris will be in our state, Democratic delegates are set to begin their role call vote on who will be their party's presidential nominee. Harris is expected to announce her running-mate on the same day.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump visited North Carolina last month. He spoke to voters in Charlotte. It was his first campaign rally since the assassination attempt.

Both parties are vying to win the battleground state of North Carolina. In the two previous presidential elections, Trump won the vote in our state, but only by a very close margin.
