GREENSBORO, N.C. — Former president Donald Trump's running-mate is responding to the news circulating about candidate for North Carolina governor Mark Robinson.
CNN released a scathing report on Robinson Thursday, in which it connected Robinson to several racist and sexually graphic comments he allegedly made on a porn forum more than a decade ago. The report claimed Robinson referred to himself as a "black NAZI" and even suggested the return of slavery.
Trump's running-mate JD Vance skirted around the subject, but did post this to X:
"My comment on Mark Robinson is that Kamala Harris cast the deciding vote on the Inflation Explosion Act and because of that a lot of Americans can't afford groceries," he posted in response to a five-second video clip in which a reporter asks him about Mark Robinson. Vance doesn't respond on camera.
Trump, who endorsed Robinson at a rally in North Carolina back in March, hasn't directly commented on the matter. During that rally, Trump compared Robinson to Martin Luther King, Jr.
The former president will rally in Wilmington on Saturday. It will be interesting to see if he addresses the Robinson news. The Associated Press reports that Robinson is not expected to attend the event, according to a person on the Trump campaign and another person familiar with the internal planning.
Vance just rallied in Raleigh on Wednesday, and Robinson was not there.
Robinson denies that he's behind the posts and said he's staying in the race for governor.
