HIGH POINT, N.C. — Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance spoke to a crowd of young voters at a town hall event in High Point Thursday morning.
With Election Day only five days away, Vance urged young voters to get out to the polls. He focused on foreign policy, the economy, and immigration while taking questions from members of the crowd.
Common questions from the audience that arose during the discussion were about the cost of living for young people and housing affordability.
“We are ready to unleash a golden age of American prosperity, but only if we fix the broken leadership in Washington,” Vance said. “That’s what we’re going to do. That’s what we all get an opportunity to do in 5, 6 short days.”
He also spoke about what he experienced when he first became a senator for Ohio in 2023. Vance recalled what he faced in office after a train derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, and spilled hazardous chemicals.
Vance discussed several differences between the platforms of the Trump-Vance campaign and the Harris-Walz campaign, especially in economic policy.
Vice President Kamala Harris was in Raleigh on Wednesday and her running mate, Tim Walz, was in Greensboro on the same day.
