RALEIGH, N.C. — Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio is set to visit North Carolina during his trip to the United States. He arrives in the Raleigh area on Thursday evening, and on Friday, he will visit the Toyota battery plant and HondaJet in the Triad.
Governor Roy Cooper said it's a historic visit to our state. Cooper will be hosting the prime minister on a number of events during the stay.
“Kristin and I are looking forward to showing Prime Minister and Mrs. Kishida what North Carolina has to offer,” said Cooper. “Japanese investments in our state create thousands of jobs and these companies contribute so much to our communities. This historic visit provides a unique opportunity to showcase the best of North Carolina and continue to build this mutually beneficial relationship.”
Prime Minister Kishida and his wife will be treated to a State Lunch that highlights several culinary items traditional to North Carolina, including barbecue.
